AIRTIGHTNESS TESTING

Building Environment Resources Ltd are a spin-off from Clean Energy Ireland Ltd. Our team has over 15 years of experience, testing properties of all sizes in Airtightness Permeability.

The current Building Regulations require a property to achieve a score of 5m3/hr/m2 or below, at a pressure difference of 50 pascals.

Our NSAI certified testers have the skills to test your property and advise on the airtightness regime. Homeowners and contractors across Munster and Leinster can be confident they are receiving the very best Airtightness testing services when using our company.

Building Environment Resources Ltd performs airtightness testing in accordance with:

– IS EN ISO 9972:2015 (Thermal performance of buildings).

– Determination of air permeability of buildings.

– Fan pressurization method.

– CIBSE Technical Manual TM 23 (Testing Buildings for Air Leakage) ATTMA TS.

COST EFFECTIVE

Practical, cost effective support on-site if your building fails a test.

RANGE OF SERVICES

Supporting services including thermal imaging and smoke tests.

HIGH QUALITY

All our test equipment is calibrated annually to UKAS requirements.

CERTIFICATES

NSAI Certified Engineers and procedures, ensuring that your test results are recognised by architects, engineers and BER assessors.

REGULATIONS

Testing in accordance with Building Regulations 2022 TGD L, where the air permeability upper limit is 5 m3/hr/m2

A ONE-STOP-SHOP

A one-stop-shop for airtightness and mechanical ventilation testing. Minimum disruption on-site with immediate results.

WHAT IS
AIRTIGHTNESS TESTING?

An airtightness test measures the movement of air in and out of a building, identifying areas of excessive air leakage.

Air can leak through a building’s envelope through gaps and joints in the building fabric.

Air leakage can influence the overall heat loss in a building, which leads to an increase in energy costs.

The permeability is calculated by dividing the air leakage rate in m3/hr by the envelope area in m2. Blower door testing is now a requirement for all new dwellings.

Considerations on site:

1. Location and door opening size.

2. Size and condition of the building.

3. Interference with other work during the test process (painters/fitters)

4. Availability of power.

5. Accessibility to all rooms in the building.

6. Implications of unsavoury weather conditions (strong winds).
